The Jack’s Team is named for Jack Daraee, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1998 at age 18 months; Jack is now 13 and manages his diabetes on a daily basis. In 1999, Jack’s family & friends formed a team to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) annual Walk to Cure Diabetes. In 2001, it didn’t seem like walking was enough.
With our family and friends, we began holding the Carnival for a Cure in our backyard to raise both money and awareness for this potentially life-threatening disease. Over the years, several thousand people attended this event. In the carnival’s 7th and final year, we met and exceeded our goal to raise over $25,000. Since 2001, Jack’s Team has raised over $140,000 to support diabetes-related issues.
Now, in 2010, Jack’s Team is pleased to host, Swing Fore Diabetes. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for our beneficiary, Gales Creek Camp Foundation.
We know, with your help, a cure is just around the corner.
